Hailing from the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina, A.T. Cason is primarily a musician and songwriter for the American folk-music duo, Songs of the Folk.  As a long-time lyricist and songsmith, the progression to poetry composition was a natural one for him.  An adherent of anything analog, A.T. began presenting his poetry using a collection of restored vintage typewriters.  The resulting typoetry is a most original visual expression from this original wordsmith.  Each piece has been uniquely typed on dead stock cotton and onionskin typepaper collected from the Northeast U.S., with some works incorporating additional methods of presentation.  Furthermore, each piece benefits from the distinct look of the particular typer used—each of which utilizes high-quality cotton and acrylic ribbons and a variety of ink colors.  Lastly, each piece of typoetry is carefully preserved in a hand-picked frame, repurposed from a collection of thrift shop finds.  Not a visual artist by trade, A.T. has nonetheless created an original look as a means to express his original words.  He has presented at exhibits in the Southeast U.S. but has mostly created work for hundreds of private commissions.
